What is Đại Hội Thể Thao?



The Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) is proud to be hosting Đại Hội Thể Thao, also known as Asian Olympics, in 2010. Đại Hội Thể Thao is a three-day sporting event hosted annually by the Vietnamese Students Associations of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Arlington, and Texas A&M. It is a nation-wide event gathering Asian-Americans from all over the U.S. to compete in sports including basketball, football, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Included in the activities is an opening ceremony with traditional cultural and modern performers from all over the state with the overall participants, spectators, and volunteers exceeding 1700, making it one of the biggest Asian-American sporting events in the state of Texas.



When is Đại Hội Thể Thao?



The date of the event is March 12-14, 2010 (Please note the date change). The Opening Ceremony will be on the evening of Friday, March 12th.



Where is Đại Hội Thể Thao?



DHTT will be held at the University of Texas at Austin. For directions and attractions, please go to Maps.



What sports will be played?



The sports at Đại Hội Thể Thao will be Men's Basketball Division A, Men's Basetkball Division B (6' under), Football (Co-Rec and Men's), Volleyball (Coed Only), and Tennis (Men's and Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles)

Do I have to be Asian to play?



There is a 80% Asian rule for all teams participating in Football, Basketball, and Volleyball. This rule only applies to players on the field or court at the time, not the overall team roster. For clarification, refer to the chart to see how many players in each sport must be Asian.

In order to qualify as Asian, participants must be show any percentage of Asian descent. Please have proper documentation on site in the event a conflict arises. Proof of descent must be shown when requested. Proof can be shown via a Birth Certificate or copy of one.



Can I play in multiple sports?



There is no rule barring participation in multiple sports, but due to possible scheduling conflicts, it is recommended that players play only in one sport.
